 AMARNATH YATRA TIPS

The Yatra is organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Govt., in the month of Shravan, and commences mainly from Pahalgam on specified dates. In recent years the route from Baltal has also been thrown open for the pilgrims to approach the holy Cave.

Important Notice

1. If the Helicopter does not operate due to bad weather, technical or any other unforeseen reasons, we will not be responsible for any financial loss that may be incurred by the passengers due to this. The Helicopter operator may offer the passengers an option to travel the next day. In such cases the passengers would have to pay Rs. 1000 for the vehicle retention for 1 extra night and will also have to pay for their hotel accommodation for extra night. Alternately the passengers may make their own arrangement for the stay in Sonmarg. In case the passenger is unable to perform the Helicopter journey due to the above mentioned reasons, they are entitled to full refund for the airfare only.

2. The Helicopter travel is subject to all the terms and conditions mentioned on the Helicopter ticket. Passengers are requested to read them carefully.

3. At the time of booking we require following details:
a) Full Name and Gender of all passenger.
b) Full address and phone no. of all families.
c) Details of ID card and No. that would be carried by the passenger in whose name booking is being
made.

4. 4. Following documents are accepted as valid Photo IDs: Valid Passport / Driving License / Election Card / Pan Card / Photo Id issued by Govt. / PSU and School Photo ID.

Dress: Pilgrims are advised to carry sufficient wollens such as sweaters, drawers, wollen trousers, monkey cap etc. Other items could include wind cheaters, rain coat, sleeping bag or blankets, umbrella, waterproof boots/shoes, walking stick, torch etc. Ladies are advised not to go on the trek in saris, instead pants or Salwar suits with drawers should be used.

Medical Assistance:
Medical posts manned by qualified doctors and nursing staff are established enroute to cater to the needs of the pilgrims, free of cost. However, pilgrims are advised to carry along any medicines specifically prescribed for them.

Provisions:
Essential rations are available at fair price rates from the specially established Govt. Depots at Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtami, Numerous wayside tea-shops and small restaurants are set up by private parties. However, pilgrims are advised to carry with them biscuits, toffees, tinned food etc. to cater to their immediate needs. Firewood or gas can be obtained at Chandanwari, Sheshnag (Wawajan), Panchtami and near the Cave.

Insurance:
In view of the hazardous nature, pilgrims are advised to insure themselves before proceeding on the Yatra.

Accommodation:
Good tented accommodation with allied facilities are set-up during the Yatra period. These are provided on the basis of payment of fixed rates

Registration:
Registration of pilgrims are undertaken about a month ahead of the date fixed for commencement of Yatra

Photography:-

Still cameras, home video cameras are allowed in Valley and however there is restriction inside the temple and should consult temple authority before taking photograph.
Communication:-
With all round development in mobile telephony, almost all the places have mobile network of all places. However BSNL provides the best coverage.

Responsibility:-

All arrangements within Amarnath Yatra, reserves the right to change itineraries without prior notice, depending on the weather and road condition.

Fitness:-

A good 15 minutes walk, jogging daily, stretching and regular exercise should put you in the right shape. It is recommended that you bring a good day pack and are fit enough to carry snacks, filled water bottle/small scissors and knife, waterproof matches, safety pins, Thermometer, Lighter, Dehydration salt (electoral) packets, Neoprene Powder and cream. Heat balm for muscles/joints, Vicks inhaler/vapourub, Chopsticks. Dry Fruits/snacks, camera, Film, Map, Jumper, Sun Hat, First Aid Kit, Light weight Rain Gear, Extra Cloth etc.

Attitude Sickness:-

This is an environment related condition that can affect anyone who ascends too rapidly to high elevations without acclimatizing properly. Suggested to read any book on trekking, which has a chapter on this, and also consult your doctor.
